California Polytechnic State University and World Wide Sires, Ltd. offer a training program 4 times a year. The course offers four days of dairy training and practical experience, as well as a two-day study tour of the California dairy industry featuring top commercial dairymen and industry experts.

Orientation will be held on Sunday evening with classes starting Monday morning. Students are responsible for their own transportation to and from San Luis Obispo, California. Transportation will be taken care of once students arrive in San Luis Obispo.

The course is limited to 25 students on a first-come basis and is taught in English only. The fee for the course is $1,350, which includes all program costs as well as parking and housing through the last Friday of the program. Meals on the campus, starting with breakfast on Monday morning, are also included. Participants will be responsible for their own meal costs during the two-day tour.

Cal Poly is the premier Dairy Science college in the United States. The course combines theory with practical training. Topics covered during the course include:

  • Calf and dry cow management
  • Type evaluation and classification
  • Computer applications
  • Mastitis
  • Cow comfort
  • Fitting & showing
  • Dairy management skills
